Virat Kohli completes 1,000 runs against Chennai Super Kings in IPL | Cricket News



NEW DELHI: Star Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli reached a significant milestone on Friday as he completed 1,000 runs against Chennai Super Kings during the IPL 2024 season opener in Chennai.
Despite a somewhat subdued performance with the bat, Kohli managed to score 21 runs off 20 balls, including a six, at a strike rate of 105.This achievement now places RCB‘s Kohli’s tally against CSK at 1,006 runs in 32 matches, boasting an average of 37.25.Within these innings, he has notched up nine half-centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 90.
While Kohli’s record against CSK is impressive, the title for the most runs scored by a batter against a single opposition belongs to Delhi Capitals‘ (DC) David Warner, who has amassed a remarkable 1,105 runs against Punjab Kings.

Warner’s dominance extends to other teams as well, notably against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), against whom he has accumulated 1,075 runs at an impressive average of 44.79 and a striking rate exceeding 145. In this tally, Warner has recorded two centuries and six half-centuries, with a highest score of 126 against KKR.
Not to be outdone, Kohli has also showcased his batting prowess against other teams, particularly Delhi Capitals, against whom he has amassed 1,030 runs at an outstanding average of 51.50.
Within these innings, he has registered 10 half-centuries, with his highest score standing at 99. Kohli’s runs against Delhi Capitals have come at a brisk strike rate of over 133, underlining his consistency and dominance against various oppositions in the IPL.
